Fall Programs through December

Mad Science: Mad Science is back! This time they bring us an all new program that was developed with the folks at NASA. Learn all about space through hands on science. Subjects include: Living in Space, Planets and Moons, and Space Travel. Meets Wednesday's; 4:00 to 5:00

Club Ambassadors: This program is a student volunteer club that is comprised of on-& off-site Club and community service activities to help address local needs, like visiting a nursing home, helping at a council on aging for childcare center. Students will be traveling throughout the Cape & Islands each week to make a difference in the lives of others. Meets on Thursday's; 3:00 to 5:00

Handball League: Jorge and the Gym Staff will run a Handball League every Thursday in the gym at 4:30. Learn all about this Greek Sport & how it's played, while having a great time. Last day to sign up for this league will be November 9th. Meets Wednesday's; 4:30 to 5:30

Cooking Fun: Ever wanted to learn how to cook? Join Amanda, a culinary student at Upper Cape Tech, as she teaches the basics of cooking, portion size, and proper nutrition. Take home the recipe each week so you can re-create it for your family. Meets Mondays; 3:30 to 4:30

Postal Club: Join us as we team up with The Boys & Girls Club of North Country, NH with a Pen Pals Program! Each week we'll work on letter writing skills & write to other Boys & Girls Club members from another Club to learn all about what goes on in other Clubs! Meets on Monday's; 4:00 to 5:00

SMART Girls: SMART Girls is a health, prevention/education, fitness, and self-esteem enhancement program for girls ages 8 to 12. The program is designed to encourage healthy attitudes & lifestyles that will help early adolescent girls to reach their full potential. Meets on Tuesday's; 4:30 to 5:30

Karate: Lord Utmost brings his popular Japanese style Karate Program here to the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod. Karate is a lifelong activity that helps build confidence, concentration, and respect. Please note: additional paperwork is required and there is a monthly fee. (scholarships are available with documented need). Meets Wednesday's and Friday's 5:00 to 6:00

Drama: Yasik returns on Friday's for puppet and drama classes at 3:30 and 4:30.

Image Makers Photography: Will be run this year out of the Art Room every Friday at 3:30. Participants will learn different styles of photography, as well as learn the basics of digital and 35mm photography. This program is offered for grades 3 to 8.

Flag Football: Jorge, our new gym director, will be running the Flag Football League. This league Meets Wednesdays at 3:30 for grades 3 to 8. Games will be held on the field or in the gym depending on weather. Open to both boys and girls!

Karate: Want to learn what it takes to become a Black Belt? Well, here's your chance! Lord Utmost brings his popular program to our gym two days a week. Learn discipline, respect, and courage while working your way up the belts. Meets on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:00 to 6:00 in the gym. There is an additional fee of $40.00 per month for this program.

Golf: We are continuing our golf program this Fall by visiting local golf courses and having some lessons from a golf pro. Program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting September 25th. Grades 4 to 8 meet at 3:45 and grades K to 3 meet at 4:30. Funded in part with a grant from the USGA.

Club Tech Computer Skills: Meet with Suzanne in the computer room every Friday at 4:00, beginning September 21st, to learn the ins and outs of frequently used programs. This program is limited to 8 members in grades 3 to 8.

Chess League: No experience needed! Come learn to play or just get better. This program is offered on Mondays beginning at 3:45 for all grades starting September 17th, program will meet in the games room.

Goals for Growth: A goal setting program for grades 3 to 8. Members learn how to set attainable yet challenging goals for themselves throughout the school year. Suzanne runs this program on Wednesdays starting September 19th at 4:30.

Digital Arts: Will be run out of the Art Room on Mondays at 4:00 for grades 3 to 8 beginning September 17th. Participants will learn the art of digital imaging and photography. This group will be limited to 10 members.

Daily Activities: Every day here at the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod we feature the following activities: Art projects, homework help & tutoring, pool, air hockey, ping pong, Tournament of the Day, DDR, open computer, video games, sports, game and activities in the gym. The list never stops! Stop in & check it out!

Thanksgiving and December Vacation Week
The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod is open the day before Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and over the December Vacation on Wednesday, December 26, Thursday December 27, and Friday, December 28 from 8:30 to 5:30. Each child will need a bag lunch since lunch is not provided and a snack if they are staying all day. We will have programs running in all areas of the Club on those days, including in the art room, the gym and the computer lab. In addition, three special field trips are planned for the December vacation:

Roller Skating, Wednesday December 26
Cost: $13.00 per child; includes admission and transportation. Time: leaves the Boys and Girls Club at 12:30 and returns at 4:30 Additional Cost for Rental Skates is $3.00 per person.

Swimming at the Sandwich High School Pool, Thursday December 27
Cost: $13.00 per child; includes admission and transportation. Time: leaves the Boys and Girls Club at 12:30 and returns at 4:30. Children MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM and will need a bathing suit and towel!

Movies at Mashpee Commons, Friday December 28
Cost: $7.00 per child; includes Admission only! The Movie and time to be announced, check with the Boys and Girls Club one week prior! The kids will be walking over, so dress for the weather and Bring additional money for snacks and popcorn.

Teens Only!

The High School Teen Club for teens in grades 9-12 is now open at Mashpee High School from 2-6 pm every afternoon after school in the Fashion and Design room.

Teen Director Russell Perry is looking for program ideas! Email him at RPERRYBGCC@comcast.net or call 508-477-8845. The Education Director will be providing homework help, free individual tutoring, MCAS help, college application and essay assistance, and job skills from 2-3 pm 2 days a week at the High School Teen Club.

OPEN GYM for Grades 9-12 Mondays-Thursday: 6-8 pm, Teens Only.

Friday nights the Clubhouse is open to all Cape teens ages 13-18 from 6 until 10 pm.
