March-April Programs
March 11 to April 18

Daily Challenges
This program meets in the Club's full size Gym everyday from 3:00 to 3:30. The program gives kids a chance build their fitness levels while having fun! The daily challenges promote skills in a noncompetitive, fun, yet challenging environment. Kids compete against themselves and score points in everyday fun fitness activities. Activities will include basketball, football, soccer, jumping rope, walking and running, plus kids can invent their own sports! The activities change everyday, so kids stay engaged. This program is funded in part through a grant from Bank of America.

Healthy Habits
This program is also part of the Club's fitness and health program and gives kids the chance to learn how to make smart, nutritious snacks and meals. Amanda, a culinary arts student, will guide kids in Grades 3 to 6 through this program on Mondays and on Wednesdays for kids in Grades K to 2. The program will meet at 3:30. Healthy Habits helps kids develop a knowledge base to acquire healthy habits regarding nutrition, such as making smart food choices, understanding appropriate portion sizes, and creating fun and healthy meals. The lessons are correlated to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) MyPyramid and the U.S. Department of Health's Steps to a Healthier US. Healthy Habits uses a positive, upbeat approach and fun group games and activities to teach young people about healthy eating and physical activity. Part of education program, Healthy Habits is funded in part through grants from the Cape and Islands United Way, the Sheehan Foundation, the Kelley Foundation, and the Cape Cod Foundation.

Imagination Warehouse
This 8 course program helps children tap into their dramatic improvisational and story telling skills. The participants will create a series of skits to perform for other members and parents at the end of the program. The theme will be based on citizenship, respect and responsibility. The series of skits will demonstrate the right way and the wrong way to behave and it will incorporate slapstick and humor to help get the message across. The group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 to 4:00, and to make it even more exciting, the group will meet in Clown Around Town's big pink Buffoonery bus!

Image Makers
This program is back by popular demand! This Introduction to Photography program will meet on Wednesdays at 3:30 in the Teen Room with Ashley. Children in grades 3 and up are able to join with no experience necessary. Participants will learn the basics of photography and how cameras work. Final photography works from several of the children will be entered into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Regional And National Photography Contests and the Club will host a show for parents to showcase the children's work from both this program and the Digital Arts Program.

Digital Arts
Club members can develop creativity by producing projects in Web design, graphic design, digital photography, and music making or movie making. Some of the work from this program will be entered into Boys & Girls Clubs Local and National Competitions in the above categories. The program will meet on Fridays at 3:30 in the Computer Room with Ashley.

Babysitting
This program is being brought to the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod by the Barnstable County Cooperative Extension/4-H. It will meet at 3:30 on Tuesdays and teach the following skills: interviewing for a babysitting job, choosing age appropriate games and activities, and first aid and CPR. There is a small fee of $5 to cover the cost of the babysitting book which the participants will be able to take home.

Policy for Program Sign-up and Attendance:
Parents should note that if their child joins a program, they need to make sure that the child is at the Club on the days that the program runs and that they stay through the entire hour since space is limited. If a child misses the program or leaves early, that slot goes unused when it could have been taken by another child who really wanted to be in the program. In addition, while the programs are all free for the kids involved, the Boys & Girls Club incurs a cost to provide them, therefore, they will charge a $15.00 fee for any child missing a session or leaving early.
